If you must ask, I like the style. The use of the tilt/shift is very much in line with your proposal to focus on the smaller things (or plant life as it may be). I see this technique used to isolate items from a vast space. Making the documentation of your journey more intimate. Consider the 90mm lens before going on your next outing.
